The Forestry Commission is a parastatal under the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Wildlife, established in 1954 through the Forest Act.
We are entrusted with the sustainable management of Zimbabwe’s forest resources — protecting biodiversity, promoting climate resilience and supporting both commercial and community forestry.

The official Zimbabwe Tree of the Year for 2026 is the Mutiti (Erythrina abyssinica), also known as the red-hot-poker tree or lucky-bean tree.
